Job summary

The City of Philadelphia is seeking a Network Engineer to configure switches/routers, design wireless networks, and troubleshoot remote site issues. Travel to remote locations and handle security devices are part of the role. A Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years in IT networking are required, with certifications preferred.

EVPN experience is a plus. The salary cannot exceed $87,494, and comprehensive benefits are offered. Candidates must reside in Philadelphia within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 3–5 years IT networking experience.
• Experience with Juniper or Cisco networking hardware.
• Network or systems certification preferred.
• EVPN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform switch and router configurations.
• Perform wireless network design, configuration, and support.
• Travel to remote sites to troubleshoot network problems.
• Resolve trouble tickets for the Network group.
• Assist with network security – firewalls, VPN devices, perimeter devices.
• Install and support remote devices as needed.
• Monitor alerts from building probes.
• Cable and connect copper and fiber equipment.
• Attend meetings as required.
• Other related duties.
