Job summary

BlackHawk Data is seeking a Network Engineer to support, implement, and troubleshoot network infrastructure for client environments across healthcare, financial services, education, and public sector. This onsite NYC metro role combines hands-on configuration with collaboration across engineering, support, and project teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of network engineering experience
• Experience with Cisco and Fortinet technologies
• Familiar with BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP routing protocols
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience

Responsibilities

• Configure, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs
• Support network upgrades, installations, and changes with minimal disruption to operations
• Assist in implementing routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) to support network performance and stability
• Monitor network performance and identify issues impacting availability or performance
• Troubleshoot Layer 2/3 network issues across LAN/WAN environments
• Perform root cause analysis and support resolution of outages and connectivity issues
• Utilize monitoring tools to maintain uptime and system health
• Support firewall and VPN configurations to maintain secure network environments
• Assist in applying security best practices and addressing vulnerabilities
• Participate in routine maintenance, patching, and system updates
• Maintain accurate documentation including configuration, diagrams, and procedures
• Work closely with internal teams to support client environments
• Provide support and knowledge sharing with team members as needed
