Job summary

Adaptic LLC in Maryland seeks a Network Engineer to design, secure, and operate high‑assurance networks supporting DoD and Intelligence Community missions. You’ll configure routers, switches, and firewalls, design VLANs/VRFs, and implement robust security controls in fast‑paced environments.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with polygraph is required.
• Experience with routing, switching, and network security.
• Experience with Cisco IOS, PAN-OS or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with VLANs, VRFs, segmentation and traffic management.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across network infrastructure and connectivity.
• Experience in fast-paced, operational environments.
• A degree in Network Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Responsibilities

• Configure and optimize network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Design and support network segmentation (VLANs, VRFs) and virtualization.
• Implement and manage network security controls (IDS/IPS, NextGen firewalls).
• Monitor network performance, capacity, and availability across distributed systems.
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues and resolve complex network problems.
• Support network operating system installation, upgrades, and patching.
• Develop and maintain network backup and recovery procedures.
• Identify and mitigate network vulnerabilities to enhance system security.
• Support virtualized network environments, including VMware-based infrastructure.
• Collaborate with system administrators, engineers, and security teams to support mission needs.

Your Impact

You’ll support and enhance network infrastructure across design, implementation, and operations—ensuring secure, reliable connectivity in high-stakes environments. Day-to-day, that can look like:

• Experience with technologies such as Cisco IOS, PAN-OS, or similar platforms

• Familiarity with network segmentation, virtualization, and traffic management concepts

• Strong troubleshooting skills across network infrastructure and connectivity issues

• Experience working in fast-paced, operational environments

• A degree in Network Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Nice to Have

• Active DoD IAT Level II or III certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CASP+, CCNP Security)

• Active Cisco certification (e.g., CCNA, CCNP)

• Experience with VMware/ESXi or virtualized network environments

• Familiarity with intrusion detection/prevention systems and network monitoring tools

• Exposure to network security, vulnerability analysis, or defensive cyber operations

• Military cyber training (e.g., JCAC, UCT, NWBC/INWT)
