Job summary

KaylaTek is seeking an experienced network engineer to join its DoD-focused team at Joint Base Andrews, MD. You will monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues across enterprise routers and switches, ensuring security posture and DoD compliance.

The role requires a current DoD Secret clearance and 8140 IAT Level II certification, with advanced LAN switching and Layer 3 routing expertise. On-site schedule with after-hours support and on-call rotation apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of related experience; equivalent years may be considered.
• Active DoD Secret security clearance required.
• 8140 IAT Level II certificate (CCNA/CCNP Security) required.
• Expert LAN switching knowledge: VLANs, VLAN Trunking, Port Security, STP, Layer 2/3 configs.
• Expert Layer 3 routing protocols (EIGRP/OSPF/IS-IS).
• Experience with DoD network security hardening requirements and encryption devices.

Location

Joint Base Andrews (JBA), MD - 100% on site (with ad-hoc telework)

Shift

Core hours: 6 am - 6 pm; Shift: 9 am - 5 pm (M-F); After hours support - Required (Duty phone will rotate between team members).

Certifications Required

• Requires a current 8140 IAT Level II (Intermediate or Advanced) certificate (Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) /Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Security)

Security Clearance

• Active DOD Secret clearance

Essential Job Functions

• Monitor data or infrastructure system networks for various messages, alarms, or issues.
• Identify issues or problems and resolves as appropriate; escalates when necessary.
• Troubleshoot problems using scripts and standard, routine procedures; escalates as appropriate.
• Initiate resolution as appropriate for enterprise level routers and switches.
• Interface with vendors to ensure appropriate resolution during network outages or periods of reduced performance.
• Process Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI's) as directed by management.
• Maintain required security posture on all network equipment in accordance with DoD and local command mandates and requirements, including updates, STIGs, IOS upgrades, and other basic network security requirements.
• Support special projects and day-to-day operations as needed or assigned by the site lead
• Support on-call rotation schedule

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5+ years of related experience, additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Currently possess an Active DoD Secret security clearance
• Requires a current 8140 IAT Level II (Advanced) certificate (Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) /Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Security)
• Expert knowledge with LAN switching, including Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), VLAN Trunk Protocol (VTP), Port Security, Spanning Tree, and Layer 2 and 3 switching configurations.
• Expert knowledge with Layer 3 routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, etc.) and best practices on implementation.
• Expert knowledge with L1/L2 network troubleshooting (Unclassified and Classified
• Expert knowledge of DoD network and application security hardening requirements
• Experienced with programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting encryption devices at network points of presence including management via GEM-X or other DoD management tools.
• Experienced with DoD COMSEC management processes and procedures

Preferred Qualifications

• Experienced with Cisco ISE and Cisco DNA
• Knowledge of Air Force, Pentagon, and/or AFNCR
• Experienced working at the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), and Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB)
