Role Overview: Day in the Life

Primary Functions

• Documentation of current customer network diagrams
• First response to advanced network break/fix work
• Creation of KB articles for resolutions
• Significant time spent working within Vizio

Team Interaction & Communication

• Daily standups
• Consistent Microsoft Teams chat
• Ad-hoc calls as needed to support Bread
• Pre-scheduled meetings to research customer network connectivity

Core Responsibilities

• Analyze and test all elements of the network infrastructure
• Design and implement network solutions based on business requirements
• Plan, design, and implement data network infrastructure components
• Coordinate the development and maintenance of procedures, specifications, and standards
• Serve as a technical SME in network analysis, design, and engineering
• Ensure system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to maximize efficiency
• Define, oversee, and participate in work performed by less experienced network engineers
• Plan, design, and manage network infrastructure components for performance, cost-effectiveness, and availability
• Manage network projects related to technology pilots, conversions, and implementations
• Regularly participate in the audit process
• Design overall network architecture for line-of-business or corporate-wide projects
• Troubleshoot the most complex network issues
• Establish network priorities aligned with short- and long-term business objectives
• Maintain full knowledge of business requirements and network architecture
• Continuously enhance knowledge of new products and vendor solutions impacting the business

Technical Requirements & Experience

• Expert knowledge of network management tools, test equipment, circuits, and modems
• Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP protocol stack and firewall security in an inter-networking environment
• Advanced knowledge of X.25, Frame Relay, Ethernet, and Token Ring technologies
• Experience with routers, hubs, and bridges
• Experience with SNMP management tools, POC-based tools and products, and MS Office preferred
• Demonstrated project management experience
• 8–10 years of related network experience
