Position: Network Engineer
Contract Length: 12 month
Location: Rancho Cordova, CA, US
Rate: $70/hr on W2
Responsibilities:
- Provide network installation, commissioning, and deployment support for office and laboratory projects.
- Perform rack and stack, structured cabling and patching, hardware installation, and network turn-up activities.
- Configure and validate switching, wireless, and firewall platforms.
- Participate in network design reviews, site assessments, and bill of materials (BOM) validation.
- Conduct wireless surveys and perform optimization and remediation activities.
- Execute moves, adds, and changes (MACs) and provide general network operational support.
- Deliver business-hours incident response and on-site troubleshooting as needed.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, standards, and lifecycle plans.
- Support Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) implementation and wired and wireless 802.1X deployment activities.
- Support network modernization initiatives and office and laboratory expansion projects.
- Work across multiple concurrent projects and operational initiatives as priorities are assigned.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project teams to ensure delivery aligns with enterprise standards.
- Support project planning, coordination, vendor activities, and stakeholder engagement onsite five days per week.
- Travel domestically and internationally to other customer sites as needed to support project delivery and site turn-up activities. Qualifications:
Minimum:
- 5+ years of hands-on enterprise network engineering experience.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst switching platforms.
- Experience with enterprise wireless technologies, including controller-based deployments.
- Experience with firewall configuration and validation.
- Experience performing rack installation, structured cabling, fiber connectivity, and infrastructure turn-up.
- Demonstrated network troubleshooting and operational support experience.
- Experience producing network documentation and supporting network standards.
- Ability to work onsite five days per week at the Rancho Cordova, California office; candidates based in the greater Sacramento area are preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support project and site activities, including Portland, Oregon; Vancouver, Canada; and potentially Mexico (estimated three to six trips over the engagement).
- Valid passport and the ability to travel internationally for the duration of the engagement.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work directly with technical and business stakeholders.
