Job summary

Trantor is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain scalable network systems across core, edge, and distributed environments in the Palo Alto area.

You will work with Cisco IOS/NXS platforms, firewalls, and automation to improve reliability, security logs analysis, and support migrations and upgrades. The role requires hands-on experience with routing, switching, and network security in enterprise or service provider contexts.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, Segment Routing, QoS, and VRRP/HSRP protocols.
  • Experience with Cisco router/switch platforms (ASR, NCS, Nexus) and IOS/IOS XR.
  • Familiarity with SNMP, Telemetry, Netconf/YANG, and network diagnostic tools.
  • Scripting knowledge in Python, EEM, XML for automation and efficiency.
  • Solid understanding of hardware components like ASICs, TCAMs, PHYs.
  • Comfort using Excel/Power BI for data insights and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain reliable, high-performance network infrastructure across core, edge, and distributed environments.
  • Read and analyze security logs from CISCO ASA and Firepower; address authentication issues and review F5 logs.
  • Work with firewalls (Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet) and support migrations and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot complex networking issues and perform root cause analysis in live environments.
  • Collaborate across teams to implement automation, improve documentation, and streamline operations.
  • Contribute to process improvements and knowledge sharing.

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer with hands-on experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining complex and scalable network systems. This role involves working across service provider, enterprise, or cloud-scale environments to ensure robust network performance, high availability, and continuous improvement.


Roles & Responsibilities


  • Build and maintain reliable, high-performance network infrastructure across core, edge, and distributed.

  • Experience over reading the analyzing the security logs from CISCO ASA and Firepower, Authentication issues, F5 Security logs.

  • Experience over the firewalls (Preferable CISCO, PoloAlto, Fortinet firewalls).

  • Troubleshoot complex networking issues and support root cause analysis in live environments.

  • Support network migrations, upgrades, and architectural enhancements.

  • Collaborate across teams to implement automation, improve documentation, and streamline operations.

  • Contribute to process improvements and knowledge sharing.


Required Skills


  • Protocols & Technologies: Strong understanding of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, Segment Routing, QoS, and redundancy protocols (VRRP/HSRP).

  • Platforms & Systems: Experience with routers and switches across Cisco platforms (e.g., ASR, NCS, Nexus) or similar; familiarity with IOS, IOS XR, or other network operating systems.

  • Monitoring & Tools: Exposure to SNMP, Telemetry, Netconf/YANG, and network diagnostic tools.

  • Scripting & Automation: Working knowledge of Python, EEM, XML, or similar scripting for operational efficiency.

  • Hardware Understanding: Good grasp of networking hardware components such as ASICs, TCAMs, PHYs.

  • Data & Analytics: Comfort using tools like Excel, Power BI, or automation platforms to drive insights or reports.


Additional Advantage


  • SONiC & SAI: Exposure to SONiC (Software for Open Networking in the Cloud), SAI (Switch Abstraction Interface), or similar technologies.

  • AI Networking & SDN: Experience with AI Networking, SDN, or virtualized networking environments.

  • Network Innovation: Background in projects focused on scaling, automation, or network innovation.
