Job Summary:
This Network Engineer Level 2 or Level 3 role is a 6-month on-site contract position based in Detroit, MI. The professional will design, implement, manage, monitor, and support an enterprise network environment to ensure reliable connectivity and security for travelers, operations, and team members. The position requires collaboration with IT teams and adherence to industry and security standards.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, manage, monitor, and support all network systems and solutions.
- Implement and support projects to meet departmental goals and objectives.
- Monitor network health and performance continuously.
- Support Business Continuity testing and related initiatives.
- Provide reports and metrics for performance analysis and growth planning.
- Adhere to industry standards and Authority security rules.
- Collaborate with IT teams on servers, networking, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Provide VMS system training for various departments and Airport entities.
- Be available after hours and on call as needed.
- Perform related duties as directed.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or an Associate's degree plus four years of relevant enterprise infrastructure experience.
- Minimum four years of experience in design, implementation, daily management, monitoring, and support of Cisco routing and switching technologies including Access, Distribution, Core, VTP, VLAN, NFV, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, Cisco ISE, switch stacking, PPOE+, optics, SolarWinds monitoring, collapsed core, and Catalyst Center.
- Experience with network services such as LAN, WAN, WLAN, Internet, VPN, and VoIP.
- Telecommunications experience including Ethernet, fiber optics, and microwave technologies.
- Required Cisco certification: CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate).
- At least three years of experience managing firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet), security services (security appliances, MFA, SSO), and data center/IDF services (system racking, structured cabling, KVM).
- Experience working in a complex enterprise environment for at least three years.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Advanced knowledge of networking protocols and topologies.
- Familiarity with Lifecycle Management processes.
- Experience with enterprise network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Knowledge of Data Center standards, best practices, and solutions.
- Understanding of Public Cloud networking standards and cybersecurity best practices.
- Preferred certifications include Cisco CCNP and CCIE, Palo Alto PCNSA and PCNSE, and cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP and CISM.
- Experience with ServiceNow ITSM platform.
- Knowledge of FAA/TSA networking standards and requirements.
Special Considerations:
- Position requires on-site presence in Detroit, MI.
- Availability for after-hours work and on-call support is mandatory.
- Strict adherence to industry and Authority security rules is required.
Scheduling:
- Full-time schedule with potential after-hours and on-call shifts as necessary.
- 6-month contract duration.
