Overview

Alava Consulting is looking for a Network Engineer for our client. This will be a year-long contract located in West Houston. This is a hybrid position with 4 days in the office.

Responsibilities

• Act as a resource for reported network performance or application performance issues
• Manage and support the network monitoring and configuration management software
• Provide technical support for field networks to include industrial switches, routers, and wireless bridges
• Utilize service portal to manage and create service requests, outages, and change requests
• Identify innovative ways to utilize existing applications and technologies
• Forecast and coordinate management of change for scheduled maintenance weekends
• Effectively communicate with end users and peers around the world

Qualifications

• Extensive design, deployment and troubleshooting experience with large enterprises
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly articulate complex issues
• Project management and customer interfacing capabilities
• Experience with Palo Alto products including Panorama, PA NextGen Firewalls and Prisma
• Experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewall and wireless hardware
• Experience with Solarwinds Network Management suite of applications
• Experience with Wireshark and packet-level analysis and application performance root cause analysis
• Experience troubleshooting OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Firewalls, IPSEC/SSL VPNs, DMVPNs, Spanning Tree and network security
• High level of experience with Cisco Nexus Data Center Architecture
• High level of experience with Cisco ISE/NAC
• Working knowledge of SNMP, NetFlow, IP SLA and other management protocols
