Qualifications

  • 10+ years of IT experience required.
  • DHS Public Trust/EOD clearance or equivalent; Secret or higher preferred.
  • Juniper certs: JNCIP/JNCIS or equivalent.
  • Hands-on routers, switches, and firewalls in on-prem, virtualized, and cloud networks.

Responsibilities

  • Design network architectures to handle data spikes and scalability.
  • Implement QoS policies and bandwidth controls to protect mission-critical apps.
  • Design and deploy LAN/WAN topology for high-speed data transmission.
  • Ensure compliance with government standards for network architecture.
  • Maintain end-to-end encryption for data in transit.
  • Manage firewalls, ZTNA, and VLAN segmentation to isolate traffic.
  • Configure and maintain network switches and Wi-Fi infrastructure.
  • Manage dedicated circuits and internet gateways; monitor networks.
  • Collaborate with vendors/ISPs to troubleshoot routing and plan upgrades.

Job Title: Network Engineer
Clearance Required: DHS Public Trust EOD, US Citizen (Secret Clearance or above preferred)
Work Location: Hybrid; onsite 2 times a week in Arlington, VA (applicant must be based within a commutable distance (1-2 hours) within the National Capital Region)

The Network Engineer serves as a multi‑discipline IT professional with a primary focus on network administration and multi‑platform environments. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and support secure, resilient network infrastructures acrosson‑premises, virtualized, and clouddeployments.

Responsibilities:

  • Design network pathways that can sustain operational network data spikes.
  • Implement quality of service policies and bandwidth throttling to ensure uploads do not interfere with mission-critical applications.
  • Design Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) architecture to support high-speed data transmissions.
  • Ensure the network architecture complies with governmental standards.
  • Maintain end-to-end encryption for data in transit.
  • Manage firewalls, zero-trust network access, and Virtual Local Area Networks (VLAN) segmentation to ensure system traffic is isolated to prevent unauthorized access or malware spread.
  • Configure and maintain network switches.
  • Design and manage high-density Wi-Fi networks to ensure secure connections.
  • Manage and secure dedicated circuits and internet gateways routing traffic.
  • Utilize network monitoring to track bandwidth utilization, port status, and overall network health.
  • Collaborate with vendors and ISPs to troubleshoot complex routing issues, plan for system upgrades, and integrate new hardware.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 10+ years of professional IT experience.
  • Juniper Networks Certified Internet Specialist or equivalent professional networking certification; Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience with routers, switches, and firewalls inon‑premises, virtualized, and cloud network environments.
  • Experience supporting and securingedge/IoT network devicesand enterprise networks.
  • Experience withdatacenter cross‑connects and interconnects(e.g., carrier meets, cloud on‑ramps, and data‑center peering).

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Experience withMistand/orMerakinetworking solutions.
  • Experience withcellular private networks.
  • Experience withhyperconverged networking.
  • Experience withAzure Localdeployments.
  • Storage administrationexperience, including tape‑based storage.
  • Experience withidentity management(e.g., directory services, authentication/authorization integration).
  • Experience participating in or supportingincident responseactivities.

Salary and Benefit Information:

The likely salary range for this position is $115,000 - $135,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
