Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a highly skilled engineer to advance in-vehicle networks, focusing on Ethernet, CAN signaling, and distributed automotive software. You will craft network requirements, debug issues, and develop tools to streamline artifact delivery.

The role requires extensive embedded software experience, proficiency in TDD with Gherkin, and collaboration with multiple vehicle programs to ensure compliant ECU software delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years in software engineering with embedded systems focus.
  • 2+ years in distributed systems (Automotive, Defense, IT, etc.).
  • 2+ years of network architecture, protocols, and communication standards focusing on Ethernet.
  • 2+ years in Network Analysis and Simulation tools.
  • Master’s degree in computer engineering, CS, EE, or related field.
  • SOA and/or CAN signaling knowledge in automotive networking.
  • TDD experience with Gherkin for executable specs.
  • 3+ years in automotive embedded OSes.
  • 1+ years in E2E protection and Network Management.
  • 1+ years in automotive Ethernet software components.
  • 1+ years developing tools/scripts for CAN/Ethernet; DBC/ARXML formats.
  • 1+ years experience using LLMs/AI.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure downstream teams deliver software from network stacks per requirements.
  • Develop and deliver network requirements for in-vehicle networks.
  • Debug anomalies from network software or Ford standards.
  • Design and maintain scripts/tools to improve delivery of network artifacts.
  • Collaborate with Design & Release Engineers across vehicle programs.
  • Coordinate with network stack suppliers to ensure ECU software meets requirements.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that downstream development teams are tracking to deliver software from their network stacks based on our requirements.
  • Develop and deliver network requirements that seek to enhance the underlying operation of in-vehicle networks.
  • Help to debug anomalies that arise due to network software errors or non-compliance with Ford standards.
  • Design and maintain scripts and tools that help to make the delivery of network artifacts more efficient.
  • Work with Design & Release Engineers from various vehicle programs to facilitate the delivery of software from suppliers.
  • Collaborate with network stack suppliers to make sure ECU software complies with their requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 2+ years of work experience in software engineering, with a focus on embedded systems
  • 2+ years of experience in distributed systems (Automotive, Defense, Industry, IoT, IT, etc.)
  • 2+ years of experience applying knowledge of network architecture, protocols, and communication standards with an emphasis on Ethernet.
  • 2+ years of experience in Network Analysis and Simulation tools.
  • Master’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Knowledge and application of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and/or CAN signaling principles in automotive networking
  • Skilled in Test-Driven Development (TDD) with Gherkin for writing clear, concise, and executable specifications
  • 3+ years of work experience with one or more automotive embedded Oses
  • 1+ years of experience in E2E protection; Network Management
  • 1+ years of experience in automotive Ethernet software components
  • 1+ years of experience in developing tools and scripts for CAN and Ethernet; DBC and/or ARXML formats
  • 1+ years of experience in using LLMs / AI
