Job summary

Adventist Health in California seeks a senior leader to advance organizational excellence in safety, quality, and performance improvement. This role leads the Patient Safety Plan and related initiatives, supervising data systems and analytics to report quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, Nursing, Public Health, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Seven years of health care or related experience.
• Five years of leadership experience in quality, patient safety, performance improvement, or healthcare administration.
• Clinical background.
• CPHQ/CPPS/Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification required within two years of hire.
• CPHQ/CPPS/Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification required.

Responsibilities

• Partner with executive leaders and the Board to establish strategic priorities for quality, safety, and performance improvement.
• Provide expert consultation on quality systems, patient safety practices, and national performance standards.
• Lead deployment of the Patient Safety Plan and related programs; oversee reporting systems and root cause analysis.
• Foster a culture of safety with action plans and health equity initiatives.
• Develop and monitor safety goals and metrics, aiming for zero preventable harm.
• Provide leadership for QAPI and organization-wide performance improvement initiatives.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop Quality and Patient Safety staff.
• Partner with System Quality and Patient Safety to oversee data systems for quality and outcomes.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

• Partner with executive leaders and the Board to establish strategic priorities for quality, safety, and performance improvement.
• Provide expert consultation on quality systems, patient safety practices, and national performance standards; champion integrity, transparency, and continuous improvement.
• Lead deployment of the Patient Safety Plan, Patient Safety Program, and Safety Event Review Team, including oversight of the AH Reporting and Learning System, root cause analysis, rapid response to high‑risk events, and proactive risk assessments.
• Foster a culture of safety by overseeing the Culture of Safety Survey results and action plans; support Just and Accountable Culture principles and health equity initiatives.
• Develop and monitor safety goals and associated metrics, including the aspirational goal of zero preventable harm, and prioritize improvement projects to drive results.
• Provide leadership for QAPI and other organization‑wide performance improvement initiatives to reduce preventable harm, improve patient outcomes, streamline workflows, and optimize operational efficiency.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop Quality and Patient Safety staff to build internal expertise and leadership pipelines.
• Partner with System Quality and Patient Safety to oversee data systems that capture, analyze, and report quality, safety, and performance improvement outcomes.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
