Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Wireless Network Development Engineer in Nashville, TN to lead automation and network design for global wireless services in fulfillment and transportation sites. The role covers global network evolution, 24x7 escalation support on rotation, and mentoring engineers while delivering impactful, reliable wireless

These wireless solutions are used by hundreds of thousands of associates, relied upon by operators of industry-leading fulfillment and transportation systems, and play a critical role in the delivery of shipments to Amazon retail customers.

OpsTech IT Wireless and Access Engineering owns delivering software-defined, automated, and incrementally scalable Wireless/Access network infrastructure products that improve the reliability of our wireless services for Amazon’s fulfillment centers and transportation sites, worldwide. These wireless solutions are used by hundreds of thousands of associates, relied upon by operators of industry-leading fulfillment and transportation systems, and play a critical role in the delivery of shipments to Amazon retail customers.

The Wireless Network Development Engineer will leverage in-depth knowledge of Wireless networking engineering and operational practices to develop the organizational technical strategy used to ensure improved availability one of the largest wireless networks globally. The candidate will partner with Software, Operations, and Engineering teams, to define, build, and automate the future solutions which will enable faster, scalable management, globally. You will Identify themes and areas of improvement and deliver the software and design changes needed to affect change, by partnering with peer teams, coaching less tenured engineers to deliver on your behalf, or executing on your own.

Key job responsibilities

• Identifying, developing, and delivering technical solutions that improve the availability of our wireless network technologies.
• Partner with peer teams to collectively interpet the customer problems and find technological solutions utilizing wired networking technologies.
• Define and meter the availability of our existing and future network solutions, ensuring they meet or exceed the needs of our customers.
• Identify and deliver solutions that reduce operational impact to customers and enable them with scalable, resilient, and cost optimized services.
• Dive Deep on complex problems that identify root causes of our customer impacts, developing and delivering corrective actions.
• Evaluating new technologies, lab testing, proof of concept (PoC), run books definition, and pilot deployment.
• Innovate and automate infrastructure testing, deployment, operations, and life cycle management
• Defining the strategy for future team processes, tools, and , which improve how we maintain and manage them effectively, efficiently, and safely.
• Be a part of Global organization that provides 24x7 escalation service on shift rotation basis. Some night and weekend coverage may be required.
• Effectively contribute to hiring and developing top talent at Amazon
• Develop automation to resolve wireless network failures
• Investigate challenging problems to identify root cause and make recommendations for improving the customers experience on Wifi.
• Create and update the wireless network design to improve reliability
• Mitigate and Solve Network Availability Risks
• Partner with peer networking teams on overall network design to provide feedback and improvements from the wireless network perspective.
• Participate in an on call rotation
• Implement metrics to measure wireless availability and identify performance risks

Basic Qualifications

• 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
• Experience in wireless system design and architecture, system integration, and RF system analysis
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
• Deep understanding of IP network fundamentals and packet capture analysis -Analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 4+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
• Experience with IP networking fundamentals and TCP/IP, UDP, DNS & DHCP
• Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure
• MS in Computer Science, Networking, Information Systems, or related fields. Security related certifications (SANS, ISC2, etc.)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
