Amazon is seeking a Network Development Engineer to join the EDGE team, focusing on deploying and sustaining networking software tools and configurations to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new designs across global data centers.

You will partner with Infrastructure, Systems and Software Engineers and be responsible for implementing changes, defining deployment standards, and working with automation teams to scale at higher volumes.

The AWS GCNA (Global Connectivity and Network Availability) Organization is looking for a Network Development Engineer to join our EDGE team. Network Development Engineers partner with our broader Infrastructure organization on configurations standards and tools, and collaborate with Systems and Software Engineers to ensure fast, smooth roll‑out of new designs and products, and also deploy and sustain networking software tools.

AWS GCNA (Global Connectivity and Network Availability) is the backbone that connects the global AWS network. Focused on controlling the internet traffic that allows users to access their information and applications regardless of where they are in the world. GCNA is responsible for building and designing a complex backbone network that allows internet traffic to flow efficiently between data centers and customers.

Key job responsibilities

• Be responsible for deploying network infrastructure across all of our network fabrics that supports the Amazon Retail Service, Kindle, Payments and multiple AWS services.
• Deploy, scale and automate our network across multiple global datacenters. This includes existing footprints and greenfield locations.
• Drive scaling of current network designs to meet the demand of our customers.
• Create simple, repetitive deployment processes that increase both velocity and quality.
• Work closely with our internal customers on designs/solutions; bringing those designs/solutions from concept to production.
• Create and update our network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards.
• Create and implement changes on the network.
• Work closely with our automation teams in defining the tools that allow us to scale at higher volume.

A day in the life

• Support an off‑hours operations escalation pager rotation.
• Manage customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
• Sit at the computer during scheduled work hours with appropriate breaks while maintaining a high level of alertness and attention to detail.
• Travel to data center/network sites and Amazon/customer offices as needed.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
