Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC’s Edge Platform team is seeking a Network Development Engineer to design and implement scalable network solutions for fulfillment centers and transportation sites globally. The role emphasizes automation, reliability, and cross-functional collaboration with Software, Operations, and Engineering teams.

Responsibilities include improving network availability, deploying automated testing, and defining future processes and tooling.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience.
• 4+ years experience in a network focused hands-on technical role working with IP routing protocols/technologies and platforms in large scale data center and/or WAN network environments.
• 4+ years experience developing engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms to support IP network and/or networking systems.

• Partner with peer teams to understand customer problems and find technological solutions utilizing wired networking technologies.

• Dive Deep on complex problems that identify root causes of customer impacts, developing and delivering corrective actions.
• Innovate and automate infrastructure testing, deployment, operations, and life-cycle management.
• Define strategy for future team processes, tools, and workflows to improve maintenance, efficiency, and safety.
• Be part of a Global organization that provides 24x7 escalation service on shift rotation; some night/weekend coverage may be required.

Edge Platform team owns delivering software-defined, automated, and incrementally scalable network infrastructure products that improve the reliability of our network for Amazon’s fulfillment centers and transportation sites worldwide. These solutions are used by hundreds of thousands of associates, relied upon by operators of industry-leading fulfillment and transportation systems, and play a critical role in the delivery of shipments to Amazon retail customers. The Network Development Engineer will leverage in-depth knowledge of network engineering and operational practices to develop the organizational technical strategy used to ensure improved availability one of the largest wired networks globally. The candidate will partner with Software, Operations, and Engineering teams, to define, build, and automate the future solutions which will enable faster, scalable management, globally. You will Identify themes and areas of improvement and deliver the software and design changes needed to affect change, through collaboration by partnering with peer teams, leading less tenured engineers to deliver on your behalf, or executing on your own. Our team has a broad scope covering multiple business globally, from the smallest delivery stations in emerging markets to the most advanced automated fulfillment centers in North America, Japan, and Europe. As a result, this group enjoys a variety of both tactical and strategic projects. Basic Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture and core technologies such as IP, TCP, OSPF/IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, Server Load Balancers, Firewalls, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, LDAP, NFS, etc.
• Experience with one or more of the following routers, server load balancer, and firewall vendor platforms: Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, Arista, Brocade, Extreme, Citrix, F5, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
