Job summary

Core4ce is seeking a Network Security Cyber Engineer to design, build, and maintain a DoD health services enterprise network. You’ll collaborate across teams to integrate security into deployment pipelines, develop validation procedures, and mentor engineers in automation.

Responsibilities include creating security architectures, leading cyber threat prevention efforts, and implementing advanced intelligence concepts across large-scale networks. Strong DoD, CSSP, and IAT experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • 8570 OS certification requirement: Engineering – IAT Level II (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE or SSCP).
  • Experience with computer network defense technologies.
  • Experience with threat actor TTP and indicator identification using large data sources.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form.
  • Exposure to other network monitoring systems and IT Service Management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Develop security framework to couple with other internal technology standards.
  • Work with multiple engineering teams to incorporate security infrastructure provisioning into security deployment pipelines.
  • Develop validation and testing procedures around network systems.
  • Manage development of complex security solutions to work with existing and new security technologies.
  • Mentor fellow Network Security Engineers on automation techniques and best practices.
  • Create, maintain, and update documentation of network security systems.
  • Performs as the Senior Technical SME in area of Cyber Security.
  • Provide Architecture and Design of environment for threat intelligence into countermeasures to detect and prevent intrusions and malware infestation.
  • Provide Architecture and Design of environment for identifying threat actor tactics, techniques and procedures and based on indicators develops custom signatures and blocks.
  • Interact with the CSSP for incident response, recovery, and prevention.
  • Interact with the Engineering, SOC and NOC personnel to maximize cyber threat prevention measures and enforce security policies.
  • Lead technical implementation of the core Security Intelligence concepts.
  • Have advanced knowledge for enterprise network and how each component contributes to Security Intelligence.
  • Know tools & techniques to identify trends and extract indicators from large data sources.
  • Understand the Cyber Kill Chain and Advanced Persistent Threat concepts.
  • Navigate the command line to manipulate data and manage detections.
  • Study the detection and prevention of intrusion and attacks.
  • Manage disparate data about detections, attacks, and attackers.

Job description

The Network Security Cyber Engineer will work with a team of Network Security Engineers to design, build, and maintain the enterprise network for DoD health services. Through collaboration with Software Engineers, Network Engineers, and SMEs across multiple teams, they will create technology to streamline infrastructure operations and deployments. Network Security Cyber Engineer must be intuitive to anticipate needs. They must be able to go into an organization and understand how the people, culture and processes work together to impact their job to fill the gaps in technology with expert care. The candidate will be expected to develop a detailed understanding of enterprise cyber design concepts and associated technologies as they relate to providing a secure, reliable, fault-tolerant network supporting a large enterprise network. This engineer must be highly motivated, self-driven, forward-thinking, and results-oriented.

  • Lead technical Implementation of the core Security Intelligence concepts
  • Have an advance knowledge for enterprise network and how each component contributes to Security Intelligence
  • Have an advance knowledge for tools & techniques necessary to efficiently identify trends and extract indicators from large data sources
  • Know the importance how to be in control of the adversary’s intrusion steps
  • Know how to identify and create mitigation for the Cyber Kill Chain grid
  • Understand the concept of Advanced Persistent Threat (APT)
  • Understand what makes APT different than traditional cyber threats
  • Know examples of specific intrusion techniques used by APT adversaries
  • Recognize what you’ll need to know to prevent or identify APT intrusions
  • Understand key networking concepts relevant to the Security Intelligence process
  • Understand key forensics and incident response concepts critical to the Security Intelligence process
  • Understand and work with various categories of electronic evidence including media, email, and networks
  • Study the detection and prevention of intrusion and attacks
  • Understand structured digital evidence collection and evaluation
  • Understand concepts of packet analysis
  • Navigate the command line using specific expressions to manipulate data
  • Handle and organize disparate data about detections, attacks, and attackers
  • Discovery techniques and vetting of new intelligence

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field or equivalent experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • OS certification requirement (CCNA or higher): 8570 Requirement: Engineering – IAT Level II (One of CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security + CE or SSCP) able to obtain both OS and Security Certifications.
  • Experience with computer network defense technologies
  • Experience with Threat actor TTP and indicator identification using large data sources
  • Work well under pressure with differing levels of Management
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and communications
  • Exposure to other network monitoring systems and IT Service Management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Work, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Experience with CSSP, DoD, DHA customers
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills to effectively translate and communicate complex technical information and risk to all levels of internal and external organizations
