Job summary

Northwest Partners is seeking a Senior Python Developer to join our client, a global financial services organization. You will design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications that automate network infrastructure and security operations.

This role emphasizes Python development, RESTful APIs, and scalable automation while working with cross-functional teams. In a hybrid setup, you will spend four days per week in the office with up to four weeks of remote work annually.

Qualifications

  • Strong commercial experience developing Python applications.
  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Strong understanding of database design, SQL, and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with JSON/XML data formats.
  • Knowledge of source control and modern dev practices.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Experience with network infrastructure or automation is a plus.

Job description

Northwest Partners is looking for aSenior Python Developer to join our client, a global financial services organization. In this role, you will develop and enhance automation solutions that support the transformation of enterprise network infrastructure and security operations. Working closely with Network Engineers and Software Developers, you will build scalable, full-stack applications that automate network processes, improve operational efficiency, and support the organization's global technology strategy. This is a full-time, hybrid opportunity requiring 4 days per week in the office, with the flexibility to work remotely for up to 4 weeks per year, in line with company policy.

Locations available in Quincy and Boston, MA; Princeton and Clifton, NJ; Austin, TX; Kansas City, MO; and Berwyn, PA
What You Will Do
  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications that automate network infrastructure and security operations.
  • Build high-quality, modular Python applications using modern software engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with Network Engineers to understand infrastructure requirements and translate them into scalable automation solutions.
  • Develop and integrate RESTful APIs to communicate with network devices and third-party systems.
  • Design and optimize database solutions, including complex queries and performance tuning.
  • Write automated tests and contribute throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Work within an Agile Scrum environment, participating in sprint planning, reviews, and daily stand-ups.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development standards, code quality, and automation capabilities.
  • Support automation initiatives across a range of networking technologies, including switches, firewalls, load balancers, and cloud platforms.
What You Will Bring
  • Strong commercial experience developing applications with Python.
  • Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs and working with JSON and XML data formats.
  • Strong understanding of database design, SQL, and query optimization.
  • Knowledge of source control, authentication, messaging technologies, and modern software development practices.
  • Experience working with network infrastructure or network automation, including technologies such as Cisco, Arista, F5, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Zscaler, or Citrix NetScaler, is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies and Scrum practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and infrastructure teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
