The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) is seeking a Network and Infrastructure Engineer responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of school‑level network and related IT infrastructure in support of teaching, research, and administrative activities. This role provides critical oversight and technical expertise for campus‑wide networked AV infrastructure and design of faculty lab networks, and participates fully in building and configuring network and infrastructure components; maintaining and troubleshooting complex issues; and monitoring critical systems to identify, analyze, and address performance and security problems and security events. The position focuses on implementing secure infrastructure solutions, performing and contributing to risk and vulnerability assessments, and driving remediation efforts to protect systems and data. The incumbent serves as a trusted advisor to school administrative and research stakeholders, consulting on and implementing infrastructure best practices ensuring alignment with Harvard University IT technical standards, policies, and information security requirements.
SEAS campus spans across both Cambridge and Allston, MA. Occasionally required to work outside of normal business hours and may be called during off‑hours to address critical infrastructure needs.
The individual may need to carry up to 20 pounds unassisted and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance; standing and sitting for considerable lengths of time might also be required.
This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non‑Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard‑designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard‑registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
This position is salary grade level 057. The corresponding salary range and related information can be viewed on Harvard’s salary ranges.
