Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Network Engineer to support DoD clients in a secured Guam environment. A Secret clearance and 1+ year of related experience are required, with hands-on LAN/WAN management and performance monitoring.

You will collaborate with GDIT teams and AF client, implement SOPs, and maintain high availability while following security and ITIL-like practices.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of related IT/network experience.
• Active Secret clearance.
• DoD 8570 IAT level II/8140 equivalent or higher.

Responsibilities

• Manage LAN/WAN functionality and efficiency.
• Monitor data traffic and network performance; optimize resources.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network problems.
• Collaborate with GDIT team leads and AF client on planning/procedures.
• Operate per daily/weekly/monthly SOPs and create SOPs (TTPs).
• Work with SIEM to tailor alarms and reports.
• Support security incident response and risk analysis.

Responsibilities

• Manage the functionality and efficiency of computer networks (LAN/WAN).
• Monitor data traffic and network performance, controlling resources to ensure high-quality transmission.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems.
• Collaborate directly with GDIT team leads and the AF client on planning and procedures.
• Operate under supervision to execute day-to-day management and operations of systems and networks.
• Manage COTS and GOTS products to collect, display, and remediate automated system security and performance metrics.
• Follow Operations and Maintenance checklists to maintain service daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly; build Tactics, Techniques and Processes (TTPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for service checklists.
• Operate monitoring tools with SIEM, creating and tailoring event alarms, rules, and summary reports.
• Assist in analyzing technical risk of emerging cybersecurity tools and processes upon request.
• Work as part of a security incident response team as needed.
• Maintain network to meet Enterprise Service Availability and Service Level Agreement requirements.
• Utilize IT Service Management (ITSM) principles to identify, categorize, prioritize, and resolve incidents.
• Maintain network security and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
• Participate in developing and implementing network-related procedures and standards.
• Interface with vendors to resolve network outages or performance issues.
• Assist with the development of third‑party monitoring actions and procedures for network infrastructure.
• Participate in network software upgrades, moderation tasks, and installations.
• Work after‑hours and weekends during maintenance windows on‑site as needed.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Security Clearance.
• Current DoD 8570 IAT level II/8140 equivalent (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE).
• Technical training, certification(s), or degree.
• 1+ years of related experience.
• Experience with hardware vendors for incident resolution; Tier II support for problem identification and resolution.
• Experience with various software systems, architectures, communications protocols, and network hardware devices.
• Experience with STIG patching, compliance, and other security activities.
• NOC/SOC operations background.
• Incident management expertise with a track record of managing complex, multi‑team responses.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment and multi‑task while maintaining high quality.

Desired Qualifications

• ITIL V3/4 Foundation or higher.
• DoD 8140 certifications (e.g., CASP+, CCNA Security, CCNP Security, CCSP, GCED, GCIA, GCLD, CISA, CISSP, GSLC).
