Job summary

Bell Laboratories Inc. is seeking a motivated network professional in Wisconsin to install, configure, monitor, and maintain complex network and infrastructure systems.

You will ensure performance, availability, and security across routers, switches, firewalls, wireless, DNS/DHCP, and VPN services. The role requires an Associate degree in IT/CS or related field, and a minimum of four years of network administration experience.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in IT/CS, Networking or related field is required.
  • Minimum of four (4) years in network administration or related IT infra roles.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, security, and monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, monitor, and maintain network and infrastructure systems (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless, IAM, cloud/hybrid).
  • Monitor network performance, availability, connectivity and security.
  • Maintain DNS, DHCP, WAN, internet services, web hosting, and domain registrations.
  • Maintain network monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
  • Coordinate with vendors for network products and services.
  • Document network diagrams, IP inventories, switch ports and configurations.
  • Collaborate with software development to support internal solutions.
  • Report network status, capacity planning and expansion to leadership.
  • Assist end users with network-related questions and requests.
  • Participate in cybersecurity initiatives and incident response planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB ACTIVITIES:
  1. 1. Install, configure, monitor, and maintain network and infrastructure systems, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless technologies, identity and access management platforms, cloud and hybrid environments, network cabling and network security systems.
  2. 2. Monitor and maintain network performance, availability, connectivity, and security.
  3. 3. Maintain and support internet connectivity and wide area network services.
  4. 4. Administer DNS, DHCP, WAN, internet services, web hosting, and domain registrations.
  5. 5. Maintain network monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
  6. 6. Administer network security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, web filtering, email filtering, VPNs, cameras, and network segmentation.
  7. 7. Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity and performance issues.
  8. 8. Assist end users with network-related questions and support requests.
  9. 9. Research, purchase, and support network hardware, software, and telecom services.
  10. 10. Coordinate with vendors and service providers for network-related products and services.
  11. 11. Arrange for repair or replacement of network equipment.
  12. 12. Maintain current documentation including network diagrams, IP address inventories, switch port records, security configurations, maps and network architecture.
  13. 13. Collaborate with software development team to support internally developed solutions.
  14. 14. Communicate network status, access, security posture, capacity planning, and future expansion or upgrade recommendations to leadership.
  15. 15. Participate in cybersecurity initiatives, vulnerability assessment, disaster recovery planning, internal audits, and incident response planning.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:

Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of four (4) years of experience in network administration or related IT infrastructure roles.

KNOWEDLEGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, VLANs, VPN technologies, DNS, DHCP, wireless networking, firewall, backup, and network monitoring tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Knowledge of cybersecurity and network administration best practices.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

Routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, telecommunications equipment, network monitoring platforms, computers, and related networking hardware and software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Hand-eye coordination for typing and equipment maintenance. Ability to sit for extended periods, regularly stand, walk between buildings, talk, see, and hear. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
