Job Summary
- The Network Administrator serves as a network specialist within the Information Technology department. This role is responsible for setting up, configuring, maintaining, and supporting internal and/or external network systems across the organization. The Network Administrator ensures network performance, implements security measures, maintains disaster recovery plans, and provides user support. This position plays a key role in supporting servers, networking hardware, and related software applications.
Essential Functions
- Install, configure, and maintain LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems
- Evaluate and recommend network technology solutions and upgrades
- Troubleshoot network performance issues and maintain network security
- Perform system upgrades, patches, and application installations
- Analyze network utilization and optimize traffic flow
- Maintain and support networked software and hardware
- Create and maintain documentation and disaster recovery plans
- Respond to Help Desk requests and provide timely technical support
- Stay current with networking trends, practices, and compliance standards
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of routing, switching, firewall management, and VPN configurations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills
- Critical thinking and the ability to respond effectively in stressful situations
- Constant bending, stooping, reaching, and frequent walking
- Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling of equipment (up to 75 lbs.)
- Frequent use of computer, hand tools, and technical devices
- Requires visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception
- Standard office, data center, and server room environments
- Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, biohazardous waste, or hazardous chemicals
- Rare exposure to pathogens or bodily fluids
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field required
Licenses/Certifications
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) preferred
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Information Technology maintaining and troubleshooting a Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure, including experience with servers, networking hardware, and system software
