Job summary

Lactalis American Group is seeking a Senior Network Administrator in Buffalo, NY. You will maintain LAN/WAN, VOIP, and security across our US network, ensuring reliability, scalability, and secure communications for a leading dairy company.

You will contribute to project planning, policy definition, and documentation, while mentoring junior staff and collaborating with internal teams and external vendors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer systems related field, or equivalent IT experience.
  • Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, SDWAN, VPN, WIFI, Cisco switches/routers, and security.
  • Experience with VOIP systems, SIP, and related technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Administer routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, VOIP system, and related devices.
  • Improve network reliability, scalability, and security through monitoring and tuning.
  • Plan and install network equipment, define policies, and document processes.
  • Provide technical support to Help Desk and staff, including off-hours on-call rotation.
  • Mentor junior team members and participate in technical projects.

Lactalis USA part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring a Network Administrator based in Buffalo, NY.

This position is part of a team that contributes to network and security projects from conception through maintenance. The Senior Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining and supporting LAN/WAN communications including VOIP and telepresence, while improving reliability, scalability and security.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Administration of routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, VOIP phone system, VOIP phones, smartphones, security updates and patches.
  • Continually improves the networks by monitoring and evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput and latency.
  • Planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of all network equipment.
  • Defining network policies and procedures.
  • Participate in technical projects with both internal and vendor supplied resources. In some cases, this may include user needs assessment, business benefit analysis, equipment selection and task scheduling.
  • Reporting of environment operational status by gathering and prioritizing information.
  • Contribution to network and security performance by assisting in definition of policy and “best practices”, monitoring, and reporting on adherence.
  • Creation and maintenance of documentation on network and processes for both internal department use and user education.
  • Member of a team and participates in off hours, on-call rotation.
  • Provides technical support and guidance to Help Desk Technicians & all staff.
  • Completion of related tasks as needed to satisfy departmental and company mission.
  • Participate in team leadership and mentoring of junior members
  • Travel and / or extended or off work hours may be required.

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a computer systems related field, or possess equivalent experience in IT.

Strong knowledge base on IT systems including:

  • LAN/WAN; SDWAN; VPN; WIFI ? Cisco Switch, Router, Wireless LAN Controller; WIFI Access Points
  • Fortigate Firewall ? Network Performance Tuning; Network Design; Network Security Principles ? Structured Cabling Standards ? OSI network Model and TCP/IP ? Domain Services: MS Active Directory, DNS, DHCP

Familiarity in the following a plus:

  • Routing Protocols: BGP/OSPF
  • Cisco UCM/UCX VOIP/SIP
  • Citrix (troubleshooting of published apps and desktops); Citrix Netscaler
  • Microsoft Server Operating Systems (2003 to 2016)
  • MS Office Products, MS Exchange, Lotus Notes
  • VMWare
  • PRISM, JDE, SAP
