GFiber is seeking a contract Network Acquisition Technical Program Manager to drive strategic negotiations for leasing data center, bandwidth, and dark fiber assets across North America. You will manage vendor relationships, coordinate with internal teams, and deliver timely infrastructure solutions.

The role requires 5+ years in network infrastructure programs and 7+ years in program management, with a focus on commercial sensitivity and technically sound decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, CS, Math, Economics, Finance, Law or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of program management experience managing networking projects with cross-functional teams.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and managing network infrastructure programs, including vendor management, contract negotiation and acquisition of network infrastructure assets (dark fiber, bandwidth, colocation, space and power).
  • Ability to think outside the box and work independently while leading cross-functional efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships and agreements with commercial partners (telecommunications companies, network carriers, and colocation operators) for leased asset acquisition projects.
  • Negotiate and implement commercial agreements and draft new orders to ensure predictable delivery of third-party assets.
  • Define capacity requirements and design resilient leased infrastructure solutions; prepare technical materials like drawings and SOWs.
  • Collaborate with GFiber's legal team to facilitate contract delivery for engagements.
  • Identify, evaluate, and acquire metro dark fiber assets and bandwidth services; participate in design/build of new infra solutions.
  • Define space and power requirements, develop rack layouts and power distribution designs; negotiate terms for colocation space.

About the Job

In this contract role as a Network Acquisition Technical Program Manager (TVC), you will be directly responsible for executing deliverables related to GFiber’s third-party telecom, colocation, and dark fiber vendors. You will manage the immediate project lifecycle, focusing on structuring agreements to acquire necessary network assets with technical and strategic judgment to deliver reliable and cost-effective solutions for the business. This engagement requires commercial responsibility in managing external vendor relationships and coordinating delivery with internal GFiber teams.

Role Description:

As a contract Network Acquisition TPM, you will be primarily focused on executing strategic negotiations to secure leased network infrastructure for GFiber’s production network. This assignment requires you to partner closely with local market and network engineering teams to source and implement critical leased data center, bandwidth, and dark fiber solutions across North America. Utilizing your technical expertise, you will manage project execution, resolve technical design challenges, and manage escalations to ensure timely infrastructure delivery. Your core focus will be on ensuring projects are scoped properly and handed off seamlessly to support vendor delivery and network deployment.

Responsible for:
  • Manage relationships and agreements with commercial partners (telecommunications companies, network carriers, and colocation operators) for executing leased asset acquisition projects.
  • Negotiate and implement commercial agreements and draft new orders under existing agreements to ensure predictable, efficient delivery of third-party assets to meet GFiber's immediate business needs.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to define capacity requirements and design resilient leased infrastructure solutions, including preparing technical materials like infrastructure drawings and Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Collaborate with GFiber's legal team to facilitate the delivery of contracts supporting specific business engagements.
  • Identify, evaluate, and acquire metro dark fiber assets and bandwidth services, including involvement in the design and build-out of new infrastructure solutions through joint projects.
  • Apply datacenter expertise to define space and power requirements, develop rack layouts and power distribution designs, and negotiate commercial terms for acquiring colocation space.
Minimum:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer science, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Law or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of program management experience managing networking projects with cross-functional teams.
  • 5 years of experience developing and managing network infrastructure programs, including experience in vendor management, contract negotiation and acquisition of network infrastructure assets including dark fiber, bandwidth, and colocation space and power.
  • Ability to think "outside the box" and come up with commercially and technically creative solutions and comfort working independently and thinking dynamically, while still leading cross-functional efforts.
Preferred
  • BA or BS degree in Engineering, Computer science or Finance.
  • 8 years of experience, including 5 years of experience with fiber network deployments and constructing new outside plant and inside plant fiber infrastructure, and 3 years of experience with space and power build-outs in data centers and / or third-party colocation facilities.
  • At least three years experience with strategic negotiations and/or business development in obtaining services from high-technology providers in collocation, data centers, internet transit, network transport, telecom or IT services.
  • Experience working with outside plant infrastructure, designing power distribution (AC and/or DC), or working in a data center design or operations role.
  • Experience designing, building or operating high-availability dark fiber or optical transport networks.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
