Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) on Shaw Air Force Base, Sumter, SC, seeks a System Administrator specialized in NetApp storage. The role supports SIPRNET/NIPRNET storage, backups, and data protection, working with DoD cybersecurity and RMF compliance in a high‑tempo environment.

On‑site collaboration with USARCENT G6, server, network, and cyber teams is essential. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of NetApp ONTAP storage experience, an active secret clearance, and DoD/NIPR/SIPR familiarity, plus

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years hands-on enterprise storage administration with NetApp ONTAP
• Active Secret Clearance required
• DOD NIPR/SIPR experience preferred
• CompTIA Security+ CE (DoD 8570/ DoDD 8140) IAT Level II or higher preferred
• VMware VCTA or NCDA/NCIE-like certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

• Maintain SAN servers for SIPRNET and NIPRNET, manage file shares and storage hardware
• Back up and archive servers per DoD instructions with required retention periods
• Coordinate with USARCENT G6 leadership and COR for network changes
• Implement and monitor NetApp data protection (SnapMirror, SnapVault, Snapshot)
• Monitor storage performance, capacity, and health for high availability
• Perform firmware upgrades and lifecycle maintenance on NetApp hardware/software
• Provide Tier II/III troubleshooting and interface with NetApp Support
• Create and maintain technical documentation of configurations and procedures
• Ensure encryption and access controls meet security standards
• Collaborate with server/network/cyber teams to support deployments and upgrades
• Develop approaches to NetApp issues and evaluate new enhancements
• Represent the organization in technical working groups with USARCENT G6 and RCC Southwest Asia
• Emergency maintenance: respond within 2 hours after notification for outages affecting 10+ users
