Are you a NETA Level III Certified Electrical Testing Technician looking to take the next step in your career while working on some of the most demanding electrical infrastructure projects in the country?
We are seeking an experienced electrical testing professional to support mission-critical data center developments, utility substations, and complex power distribution projects. This opportunity is ideal for a technically strong field professional who can independently execute advanced electrical testing, troubleshoot complex power systems, lead field activities, and ensure equipment is tested and commissioned to the highest standards.
You will work with critical electrical infrastructure supporting large-scale data center operations, utility power systems, and high-voltage installations, with opportunities to take on greater technical responsibility and leadership as projects progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute electrical acceptance testing, maintenance testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting across substations, data centers, and mission-critical electrical infrastructure.
- Perform testing on medium- and high-voltage electrical equipment, including switchgear, circuit breakers, power transformers, protective relays, CTs, PTs, bus duct, cables, and associated power distribution equipment.
- Conduct advanced electrical testing using industry-standard equipment, including OMICRON, Doble, Megger, and other diagnostic instruments.
- Perform protective relay testing, secondary injection testing, functional trip testing, and verification of protection and control schemes.
- Execute transformer testing, insulation resistance testing, contact resistance testing, circuit breaker timing, and other applicable electrical diagnostic procedures.
- Interpret electrical one-line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, and relay settings.
- Troubleshoot electrical equipment, protection systems, control circuits, and power distribution issues.
- Lead field testing activities, coordinate daily work assignments, and provide technical guidance to junior technicians.
- Prepare and review detailed test reports, commissioning documentation, and equipment records.
- Coordinate with project managers, electrical engineers, commissioning agents, contractors, and client representatives to support project delivery.
- Maintain compliance with applicable NETA standards, electrical safety requirements, and project-specific quality procedures.
- Support pre-energization inspections, equipment startup, commissioning, and final turnover activities.
Required Qualifications
- NETA Level III certification through the InterNational Electrical Testing Association.
- Significant hands-on experience in electrical testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of power distribution systems.
- Experience working with substations, utility infrastructure, mission-critical data centers, or other complex electrical environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of medium- and high-voltage electrical equipment.
- Experience testing switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, protective relays, and associated electrical systems.
- Proficiency with electrical testing equipment and interpretation of test results.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, control schematics, and technical documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, resolve technical issues, and maintain high standards of safety and quality.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with project teams and clients.
- Willingness to travel to project locations as required.
Preferred Experience
- Mission-critical data center electrical infrastructure and commissioning.
- Utility substations, high-voltage equipment, and power distribution systems.
- Protective relaying, power system testing, and protection and control systems.
- Experience with ATS/MTS testing procedures and applicable IEEE standards.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout, and electrical safety practices.
- Previous experience leading field crews, mentoring junior technicians, or serving as the senior technical resource on projects.
- Experience supporting critical power systems, including UPS equipment, emergency generators, paralleling switchgear, and transfer switches.
What’s on Offer?
- Competitive compensation based on certification, experience, and technical capabilities.
- Opportunities to work on major data center and substation projects across the United States.
- Exposure to complex, high-value electrical infrastructure and advanced power systems.
- Potential overtime, travel allowances, per diem, and other project-related benefits, depending on the assignment.
- Career progression opportunities into senior technical, field leadership, and supervisory positions.
- The opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals within the electrical testing and commissioning industry.
