Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA III/IV) to join our ERS/HVM teams. This role travels regionally up to 75% to support complex testing on high voltage systems for critical facilities.

You will perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing, analyze results, prepare reports, and mentor junior technicians while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• NETA III/IV certification current and in good standing.
• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage.
• Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF.
• Read and interpret one-line and three-line diagrams, schematics, P&IDs.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel regionally up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on power systems up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies: short circuit, coordination, arc flash, power quality.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, microprocessor).
• Interpret test results and write engineering reports with findings.
• Mentor Level I/II technicians and lead multi-discipline teams.

What You'll Do

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based)
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers
• Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements

Required

• NETA Level III or Level IV Certification (current and in good standing)
• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing experience in medium/high voltage environments
• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards
• Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF, and equivalent
• Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination
• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record
• Willingness to travel regionally (up to 75%)

Preferred

• NETA Level IV Certification
• NICET Certification
• Experience with SF6 breaker maintenance
• Power systems engineering or related degree
• Prior leadership/supervisory experience on testing projects
• Experience in data center, utility, or industrial critical power environments

Salary and Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this role in the CA, Cleveland- OH, CO, CT, NYC, MA, ME, MD, NJ, HI, IL, MN, VA, VT, Washington D.C localities are between $154,709 to $198,000 per year -salary ranges for other geographic localities may vary. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance and are role based. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to receive and/or participate in profit sharing, allowances, travel and/or car expenses, and earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization depending on the terms of the employee's role and individual offer details. The role is eligible to participate in a comprehensive and competitive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, disability, PTO, holiday pay, and 401k. Additional details about total compensation and benefits will be provided during the hiring process.

The anticipated salary range for this role in the State of Washington locality is between $154,709 to $198,000 per year -salary ranges for other geographic localities may vary.
