Job summary

Vertiv's Electrical Reliability Services (ERS) and High Voltage Maintenance (HVM) seek a Field Engineer – Electrical Testing (NETA III/IV) to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on high-voltage systems up to 500 kV. This is a full-time role requiring up to 75% travel for regional and national projects.

You will mentor junior technicians, lead technical efforts, ensure safety compliance, and contribute to ongoing project success across critical infrastructure sectors.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III/IV certification (required)
• 7+ years hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments
• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS/ATS standards
• Proficiency with listed test equipment (Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF)
• Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination
• Ability to read and interpret one-/three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs
• Valid driver's license with clean record
• Willingness to travel regionally up to 75%

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500 kV
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based)
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers
• Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements

• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards

The anticipated salary range for this role in the CA, Cleveland- OH, CO, CT, NYC, MA, ME, MD, NJ, HI, IL, MN, VA, VT, Washington D.C localities are between $158,8526 to $230,000 per year —salary ranges for other geographic localities may vary. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance and are role based. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to receive and/or participate in profit sharing, allowances, travel and/or car expenses, and earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization depending on the terms of the employee’s role and individual offer details. The role is eligible to participate in a comprehensive and competitive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, disability, PTO, holiday pay, and 401k.
