Job summary

Ampcus Inc in Chicago is seeking a Software Engineer Advanced (.NET) at 602 level to drive migration of legacy .NET applications to .NET Core, with emphasis on cloud modernization and Java integration.

Join agile teams to design, develop and deploy scalable solutions using .NET, Java, SQL Server, and AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch), plus containerization with Kubernetes and IaC with CloudFormation or Terraform. 5 days onsite in Chicago.

Qualifications

• Experience migrating legacy .NET apps to .NET Core/5+.
• Strong SQL Server experience including stored procedures.
• Experience with cloud native architectures and AWS migration tools.
• Familiarity with containerization (Kubernetes) and IaC (CloudFormation/Terraform).

Responsibilities

• Engineer will work on agile feature teams with .NET, MS SQL Server, C#, and Java.
• Collaborate on modernization initiatives using AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch).
• Analyze code/data to identify performance improvements and modernization opportunities.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Engineer will work closely on agile feature teams projects related to .NET, MS SQL Server, C#, and Java to analyze and develop solutions for modernization of SQL Jobs, stored procedures, and application code to more modern design and tool sets, including cloud-based architectures.
• Collaborate on migration and modernization initiatives, leveraging AWS Cloud services (such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudWatch) to rehost, replatform, or refactor legacy applications and databases.
• Analyze existing code and data (across .NET, Java, and SQL Server) to identify opportunities for process improvement, performance optimization, and modernization.
• Design, develop, and implement scalable solutions using .NET, Java and AWS, ensuring best practices in cloud security, automation, and monitoring.
• Participate in the development and deployment of containerized applications (using Kubernetes and AWS ECS/EKS) and infrastructure as code (using AWS Cloud Formation or Terraform).
• Contribute to agile feature teams by providing expertise in both on-premises and cloud-based application development, supporting end-to-end migration and modernization efforts.

1 .NET Application Expertise

• .NET Framework/Core: Proficiency in .NET (Framework and/or Core), including ASP.NET, Web API, and Windows Services.
• Application Architecture: Understanding of monolithic vs. microservices architectures, and experience with refactoring or modernizing legacy .NET applications.
• Database Migration: Skills in migrating SQL Server databases to AWS RDS for SQL Server or Amazon EC2, including schema conversion, data migration, and validation.
• Cloud Fundamentals
• Understanding of AWS Core Services: Experience with EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, and Lambda.
