Job summary

Charles Schwab Corporation is seeking a software engineer to design and evolve scalable Workplace Services platforms handling Equity Administration, PCRA, and Retirement Plan Services. You will modernize APIs, improve reliability, and enable safe integrations across teams, while leveraging AI to optimize processes.

The role requires hands-on coding, cloud familiarity, and a solid foundation in .NET Core, C#, RESTful APIs, and SQL Server.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • 2+ years of software development experience with hands-on coding and design.
  • Exposure to API development, microservices, or cloud-native platforms.
  • Experience in Agile/SAFe environments with iterative delivery.
  • DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation knowledge.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align tech solutions with business goals.
  • Understanding of API design, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containers (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency in .NET Core / .NET 6+ and C# for building scalable apps.
  • Experience with RESTful services and SQL Server.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable platforms for Workplace Services applications (Equity Administration, PCRA, Retirement Plan Services).
  • Drive modernization initiatives including API development and foundational system improvements.
  • Improve platform stability, performance and resilience; address risk remediation and compliance needs.
  • Leverage AI to optimize processes and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with teams across disciplines to influence technology solutions and business outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain web services and RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core.

In this role, you will help build a critical part of Schwab’s growth in the Workplace market by designing and building scalable platforms supporting critical workplace applications, including Equity Administration, PCRA, and Retirement Plan Services for millions of participants. You will drive modernization initiatives, including API and foundational system improvements that enable faster, safer integration and partnerships, improve platform stability, performance, and resilience, and modernize legacy components to address risk remediation and compliance needs. You will also leverage AI to innovate processes and outcomes while serving as a collaborative technology partner who influences solutions and business outcomes.

What you have

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in software development and engineering, including hands‑on coding and solution design.
  • Exposure to modernization initiatives, such as API development, microservices architecture, or cloud‑native platforms.
  • Experience working in Agile/SAFe environments, participating in Scrum teams and iterative delivery.
  • Working knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation for improving delivery efficiency.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and align technical solutions with business objectives.
  • Solid understanding of API design and integration, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Basic understanding of security best practices, performance optimization, and platform health.
  • Proficiency with .NET Core /.NET 6+ for building scalable applications.
  • Proficiency in C# as a primary programming language.
  • Experience developing web services and RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core.
  • Experience using Entity Framework Core for ORM and data access.
  • Experience with relational databases, preferably SQL Server.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to learn new technologies quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of progressive experience in software development and engineering, including hands‑on coding and solution design.
  • 1+ years of experience in technical leadership or team lead roles, guiding engineers and contributing to enterprise‑scale solutions.
  • Experience contributing to modernization projects, such as API development, microservices, or cloud migration.
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.
  • Working knowledge of security best practices and performance tuning for scalable applications.
  • Advanced proficiency with .NET Core /.NET 6+, C#, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, and SQL Server.
  • Experience working within Agile/SAFe methodologies and collaborative team environments.
  • Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer certification.
  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect certification, or active pursuit of certification.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification.
