Job description

Our client is looking for a SENIOR .NET APPLICATION INTEGRATION & QUALITY ENGINEER located in Metro Detroit

SUMMARY

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior .NET Application Integration & Quality Engineer to serve as the technical bridge between Business Analysts, Software Developers, Quality Assurance, and IT Operations. This is not a traditional manual QA, general application support, or solely software development position. The primary focus is on technical analysis, application integration, root-cause determination, end-to-end quality, and production readiness. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience with .NET, C#, Microsoft SQL Server, APIs, web services, and enterprise integrations. This individual should be comfortable analyzing complex applications end-to-end, reviewing code and database logic, troubleshooting difficult issues, validating integrations, identifying gaps before they reach production, and ensuring delivered solutions meet business requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and support enterprise applications built on modern and legacy .NET technologies.
  • Partner with Business Analysts to translate business requirements into technically complete and testable requirements.
  • Define technical acceptance criteria, data-validation requirements, integration mappings, exception-handling scenarios, and expected downstream results.
  • Identify missing requirements, technical dependencies, edge cases, integration impacts, security considerations, and potential failure scenarios.
  • Review technical designs and proposed solutions for completeness, maintainability, integration impact, supportability, and testability.
  • Perform hands-on debugging and root-cause analysis across application code, SQL Server databases, APIs, web services, integrations, scheduled jobs, file transfers, and infrastructure dependencies.
  • Design and execute end-to-end testing covering complete business processes and interconnected systems.
  • Perform functional, integration, regression, negative, and data-validation testing.
  • Validate application changes across upstream and downstream systems, including customers, vendors, partner systems, APIs, data feeds, and scheduled processes.
  • Use Microsoft SQL Server extensively for data investigation, advanced querying, stored procedure analysis, data validation, and database troubleshooting.
  • Test and troubleshoot REST APIs, SOAP web services, secure file interfaces, batch jobs, and scheduled processes.
  • Reproduce production issues and trace problems through the technology stack to determine the actual root cause.
  • Work directly with Developers to troubleshoot issues, validate fixes, and determine production readiness.
  • Perform pre- and post-deployment validation, confirm dependencies and rollback requirements, and support release-readiness decisions.
  • Assist with complex production incidents and improve development, QA, documentation, supportability, and release-quality practices.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Development, or a related discipline; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with .NET, .NET Framework, C#, ASP.NET, and enterprise web applications.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including advanced SQL querying, stored procedures, data validation, and database troubleshooting.
  • Experience debugging applications and performing complex root-cause analysis.
  • Experience with REST APIs and/or SOAP web services and system-to-system integrations.
  • Experience performing integration, regression, functional, negative, and end-to-end testing.
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications and troubleshooting complex production issues.
  • Experience with IIS-hosted applications, source control, and modern software development practices.
  • Ability to independently analyze unfamiliar applications, understand code and SQL interactions, trace integrations, reproduce problems, and determine where and why failures occur.
  • Strong written, verbal, documentation, analytical, and collaboration skills.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES
  • Modern .NET and Blazor
  • Legacy .NET Framework applications
  • ASP.NET MVC
  • Telerik UI components / Telerik for .NET
  • JavaScript and related web technologies
  • Azure DevOps / Azure DevOps Server
  • Git
  • Postman or similar API-testing tools
  • Enterprise application modernization
  • SQL performance troubleshooting
  • Complex transactional or workflow-driven applications
  • Automotive, fleet, logistics, vehicle-management, or similar enterprise systems
  • Experience supporting applications with multiple external customers, vendors, APIs, data feeds, secure file transfers, and partner integrations

The successful candidate will bring a developer-level understanding of application quality and be capable of understanding and validating the complete solution not simply documenting defects. This individual should be comfortable working across business requirements, application code, SQL Server, integrations, testing, deployment, and production support to ensure solutions are technically sound, fully integrated, and production-ready.
