Position Overview
AES Clean Energy, a leading independent power producer with one of the largest renewable energy portfolios in the U.S., is seeking a NERC Operations Senior Analyst. The role reports to the NERC Operations Team Leader and supports the company’s NERC Operations & Planning compliance program by ensuring operations and maintenance activities meet North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) reliability standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation of O&M compliance processes and field activities for applicable NERC O&P standards (e.g., FAC, PRC, EOP, MOD); maintain relationships with field operations personnel to complete monthly compliance checklists and confirm implementation.
- Execute milestones and project‑manage the timelines for operations compliance standards; directly support submission of required data from AES Tools/SCADA to regulatory entities.
- Collect, organize, and provide compliance evidence (maintenance records, logs, test results, etc.) to the NERC Compliance team; assist in audit preparation and documentation for regulatory inspections and NERC audits.
- Work with the NERC Compliance team to provide input on changing NERC reliability standards and regional/ISO requirements; collaborate on changes with business units and report challenges to ensure timely compliance.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Project Development, Regulatory Affairs, IT/OT Security, NERC Compliance, etc.) to integrate NERC compliance into all asset life‑cycle stages; facilitate regular meetings to review compliance status and share best practices.
- Validate execution of NERC compliance standards affecting SCADA alarm standards and HMIs; assume responsibilities of OATI user to deliver NERC GADS data.
- Establish mapping of PRC compliance requirements for PSMP sheets to SAP Maintenance Plans, FLOCs, and equipment; develop and implement procedures for NERC compliance standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve compliance processes or tools, enhance evidence management systems, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field (required).
- Mid‑level professional with approximately 3‑7+ years of experience in inverter‑based resource operations, maintenance, or testing.
- Experience in a generator owner/operator environment or renewable energy projects.
- Knowledge of NERC standard implementation related to FAC‑008, EOP‑012, PRC‑004, PRC‑005, PRC‑028, PRC‑029, PRC‑030, Transmission Planning or Protection and Control.
- Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills; proficient in office productivity tools and compliance management systems.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; collaborative attitude working across departments.
- Proactive, self‑motivated approach with commitment to professional integrity and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
- NERC System Operator Certification (e.g., Reliability Coordinator level) or equivalent understanding of grid reliability operations.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with compliance audits or regulatory inspections (NERC, regional entities, or FERC).
- Familiarity with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tools and data analytics for tracking compliance obligations.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement or risk management methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma).

Salary
The expected salary for this position at commencement of employment is between $83,000 and $99,450 per year; base pay offered may vary based on location, knowledge, skills, and experience.
