- High School Graduate or GED required and completion of an accredited medical assisting program (CAAHEP/ABHES/ED recognized)
- South Carolina Department of Education approved Health Sciences program
- Military medical assisting program or US DOL-approved Medical Assistant apprenticeship
- 90-day probationary period to complete a program aligned to a national certification exam
