Job summary

Connecticut Children's Division of Neonatology has an opening for a full-time neonatologist to provide patient care at Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, CT. The NICU is a 10-bed Level II unit and handles about 1100 births per year.

The team is supported by 24/7 advanced practitioners with at-home neonatology call, and participates in a state-wide infant transport service for higher-level care. Board eligible or certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine; CT physician license; on-site collaboration

Qualifications

• Education required: MD or DO degree.
• Active CT Physician license required.
• Board eligible or certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment of patients by obtaining a comprehensive history.
• Examines patients to obtain objective data through laboratory and imaging.
• Formulate a differential diagnosis and develop a treatment plan with interventions and referrals as indicated.
• Maintain ongoing documentation of patient interventions within policy timelines, including initial assessment and treatment plans.
• Collaborate with nursing, support personnel and administration in matters affecting patient care.
• Ensure protection of patient rights and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
• Ensure effective handoff communications are accomplished.
• Responsible for teaching medical students, pediatric residents and neonatal fellows.
• Initiate and/or participate in specific research or other scholarly activities.

SUMMARY

The Division of Neonatology at Connecticut Children's has an opening for full-time, Board Certified/Board Eligible neonatologists to provide patient care at our NICU at Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, CT.

Clinical duties include caring for infants in a 10-bed Level II NICU and newborns in the well-baby nursery. The unit supports a delivery service of approximately 1100 births per year. Coverage is provided by 24/7 advanced practitioners with at-home neonatology call. As part of the Connecticut Children's, the unit is part of a state-wide transport service for infants requiring more advanced care.

Neonatologists will provide a high level of clinical excellence through providing safe, prompt, competent, collaborative, and evidence-based medical care. Successful candidates will be responsible to follow care guidelines and treatment protocols for infants with a variety of neonatal illnesses and conditions covering a broad spectrum of health issues. The Neonatologist will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including attending, advanced practitioner staff, nursing and subspecialists to provide this care.

Waterbury, "The Brass City", is a Naugatuck River town of approximately 110,000 located just 90 miles northeast of New York. The city is 30-minute drives to the UCONN School of Medicine in Farmington and a few minutes farther to downtown Hartford and Connecticut Children's

Responsibilities

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• -Provide assessment of patients by obtaining a comprehensive history.
• - Examines patients to obtain objective physical data and supporting information through laboratory and imaging modalities.
• - Formulate a differential diagnosis and develops a reasonable treatment plan to include pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and making appropriate referrals as indicated.
• - Maintain ongoing documentation of patient interventions within the timeframe established by policy, to include documentation of initial assessment, treatment plans, progress notes and any other patient interactions, to include telephone calls.
• - Collaborate with nursing, support personnel and administration in matters affecting patient care.
• - Ensure the protection of patient rights and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
• - Ensures appropriate handoff communications are accomplished.
• - Responsible for teaching medical students, pediatric residents and neonatal fellows
• - Initiate and/or participate in specific research or other scholarly activities.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEREQUIRED

Active Scholarly Program with publication history is desirable

LICENSE and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

Active CT Physician license
Active DEA
Board eligible or certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine as appropriate.
