Job summary

Nemours Children's Health in Wilmington, DE seeks a full-time Neonatologist who will establish and sustain an extramurally funded research program while maintaining an active clinical practice. The role includes translational, clinical, or basic science research aligned with institutional priorities and a faculty appointment at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University.

The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team, care for Level 4 NICU patients, and mentor

Qualifications

  • MD/DO or equivalent clinical doctoral degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an ACGME Accredited Pediatric Residency Program and a Neonatology Fellowship Program.
  • Board Certification in Pediatric Medicine and Board Eligibility/ Certification in Neonatology.
  • Eligibility to obtain valid DEA and Medical licensure in the state of Delaware.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee research projects with national or international impact in basic, translational, or clinical research.
  • Pursue and obtain intramural and extramural funding (e.g. Nemours Foundation, NIH, disease foundations).
  • Disseminate findings through high-impact publications and national/international meetings.
  • Mentor and train graduate, medical and undergraduate students, residents, and postdocs.
  • Provide clinical coverage for critically ill neonates, including those requiring surgical interventions and ECMO.
  • Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Lead neonatal resuscitation during high-risk deliveries in the Advanced Delivery Unit.

Neonatologist - Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware
Position Summary

We are excited to announce a position opening for a full-time Neonatologist at Nemours Children's Health in Wilmington, DE. We are seeking a physician-scientist who will establish and sustain a productive, extramurally-funded research program while maintaining an active clinical practice. The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative research environment and conduct translational, clinical, or basic science research aligned with institutional priorities. Qualified candidates will demonstrate a with clear academic trajectory and plan, including external funding The position reports to the Division Chief of Neonatology and the successful candidate will be part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team within the Department of Pediatrics. The Division provides inpatient and transport care and clinical service to the only Level 4 NICU in the state of Delaware. A faculty appointment consistent with the level of academic achievement will be provided at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. All levels of experience, including recent fellowship graduates who are board-eligible, will be considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and oversee research projects with national or international impact in basic, translational, or clinical research.
  • Pursue and obtain intramural and extramural funding (e.g.- Nemours Foundation, NIH, disease foundations, philanthropy, Delaware IDEA or INBRE).
  • Disseminate findings through high impact, peer‑reviewed publications and presentations at national and international scientific meetings
  • Mentor and train graduate, medical, and undergraduate students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows in both research and clinical skills.
  • Provide clinical coverage for critically ill neonates, including those requiring surgical interventions and ECMO.
  • Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists, including medical and surgical subspecialists, to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Collaborate with maternal-fetal medicine specialists and lead the neonatal resuscitation team during high-risk deliveries in the Advanced Delivery Unit.
  • Provide additional service to the Division through participation in clinical conferences and initiatives.
Qualifications
  • MD, DO or equivalent clinical doctoral degree from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an ACGME Accredited Pediatric Residency Program and a Neonatology Fellowship Program
  • Board Certification in Pediatric Medicine and Board Eligibility/ Certification in Neonatology
  • Eligibility to obtain valid DEA and Medical licensure in the state of Delaware
  • An academic record commensurate with appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor
