Job summary

Valley Children's Hospital in Central California seeks a Pediatric Nurse Extern to support NICU nursing activities as outlined by the program. The role may involve assisting with medication administration after completing pediatric theory and clinical coursework and passing the medication exam.

You will complete a full week of new hire/clinical orientation; orientation sessions are offered during school breaks.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited RN program with at least two semesters completed.
• Transcripts showing second semester completion required.
• Must be continuously enrolled in an approved Work Study course at an affiliated institution (Fresno City College, CSU Fresno, Lemoore College, College of the Sequoias, SJVC, Merced College, or CSU Stanislaus).
• BLS - Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing activities learned in the nursing program and may assist with medication administration after pediatric theory and clinical coursework and successful completion of the Valley Children’s medication examination.
