Job summary

The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to assess, plan, and administer respiratory care in accordance with physician treatment plans, including mechanical ventilation for neonates and critically ill patients.

Responsibilities include bedside rounds, administration of medications, and supervision of students. A strong emphasis on patient safety, documentation, and collaboration with the care team is required.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree Respiratory Therapy required and Bachelor's Degree Respiratory Therapy preferred.
• Licensed Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC within 3 months of hire.
• Massachusetts license as a Respiratory Therapist.
• 1-2 year NICU training preferred or 2-3 years’ minimum critical care training.
• NRP/BSLS certification preferred.
• Ten weeks orientation to policies and procedures.
• NRP/BLs certification kept current.

Responsibilities

• Provide Respiratory Care including initiation and maintenance of mechanical ventilation using neonatal and specialized ventilators.
• Attend high-risk deliveries to assist intubation and transport of intubated patients.
• Perform airway management and oxygen delivery.
• Administer respiratory medications and monitor responses.
• Perform point-of-care testing and interpret results.
• Document observations and update physicians and supervisors.
