Job description
Overview

The Neonatal Hearing Screener provides hearing screenings to all newborns (well baby and critical care units) at the Mount Sinai West in accordance with New York State Law.

Responsibilities
  • Operates and maintains two types of sophisticated automated test equipment for conducting the hearing screenings.
  • Conveys test results to the parents.
  • If necessary, provides the parents with the necessary documentation and information to access the follow-up.
  • Handles and comforts infants (testing needs to be done with the infant as still as possible).
  • Ability to handle critically ill and premature infants.
  • Must adhere to infection control standards.
  • Maintain extensive and meticulous records in the medical charts.
  • Tracks inventory of disposable supplies used for the screenings.
  • Troubleshooting of test equipment.
  • Must have the ability to work independently.
  • Works closely with the supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Orders supplies when needed.
  • Liaison between MD and staff.
  • Follow up with patients after discharge when needed.
  • Send statistics to state when needed.
Qualifications

Employment in a medically related field preferred.

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $16.50–$24.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
