Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital seeks a Neonatal Nutrition Technician to safely prepare and distribute neonatal feedings, including mother’s milk and donor milk, in a controlled environment. You will verify orders, label correctly, and maintain strict aseptic technique to protect patient safety.

The role requires CNA certification or equivalent, ServSafe, and experience in healthcare or clinical food service. Day/evening shifts with every third weekend, with extensive teamwork and documentation duties.

Qualifications

• Essential Qualifications include ability to work specified hours and communicate effectively.
• Visual and auditory acuity to perform duties and ensure patient safety.
• CNA certification and ServSafe certificate are preferred and may be required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares neonatal feedings per provider orders and formulations.
• Measures, mixes, and fortifies human milk and formula.
• Verifies patient identifiers, orders, volumes, and calories before prep.
• Labels all feedings with patient and contents.
• Safely handles/milk storage and thawing per protocol.
• Uses EMR/milk tracking systems for documentation.
• Manages inventory of formula, fortifiers, and supplies.
