Job summary

Towson in Utah is seeking a lab assistant to support veterinary pathologists with postmortem examinations, incineration, and cremation of animal remains. You will assist in gross necropsies, prepare tissues for subsampling, and maintain a clean, odor-free lab environment.

The role requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs, work indoors around animal tissues and fluids, and move about the facilities for extended periods. ACA variable hours with US work authorization are required.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with animal body tissues and fluids.
  • Ability to move about for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Indoor work environment with exposure to organs/tissues and body fluids.

Responsibilities

  • Receive animals for postmortem evaluation, incineration, and cremation.
  • Assist the on-duty veterinary pathologist in conducting gross postmortem examinations.
  • Clean the necropsy laboratory following postmortem examinations.
  • Assist in subsampling of preserved tissues.
  • Keep necropsy and subsampling laboratories stocked and ready for use. Order supplies as needed.
  • Keep necropsy and subsampling laboratories clean and odor-free.
  • Perform incinerations and cremations.
  • Keep the area around the incinerator tidy.
