Job summary

Blue Origin in the United States is seeking an Eddy Current NDT Inspector to support quality and safety in aerospace components. The role focuses on inspecting hardware, interpreting results, and ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications.

Candidates must have Level 2 Eddy Current experience, NAS-410 training, ability to read blueprints, and proficiency with MS Office. Overtime and weekend work may be required to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Level 2 experience in the Eddy Current Method.
  • Must be able to pass Eddy Current General Test and Specific Test by week 3.
  • Must meet the minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in Eddy Current.
  • Qualify to certify to level II status per NAS-410 requirements in Eddy Current with a minimum of 800 documented hours.
  • Meet minimum Vision Requirements: Near vision 20/25, Color perception 12 panels.
  • Familiar with ASTM E426 and SAE-ARP4402 standards.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Experience with MS Office products.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It includes manufacturing and supply chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Shift days/times
  • A- shift
    • Monday - Thursday: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain techniques to properly examine hardware, ensuring adherence to all safety and specification requirements.
  • Perform inspections using Eddy Current equipment.
  • Interpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria identified on drawing or shop work order.
  • Document and organize inspection results.
  • Interface and communicate with engineers and/or managers to describe inspection results.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of Level 2 experience in the Eddy Current Method.
  • Must be able to pass Eddy Current General Test and Specific Test by week 3. General Test study materials will be provided if needed.
  • Must meet the minimum training requirements per NAS‑410 in Eddy Current.
  • Qualify to certify to level II status per NAS‑410 requirements in Eddy Current with a minimum of 800 documented hours.
  • Meet minimum Vision Requirements:
    1. Near vision: 20/25 (Snellen) at 16" or Jaeger No. 1 at not less than 12"
    2. Color perception: 14-Plate Ishihara Color Test with at least 12 panels correctly identified.
  • Familiar with ASTM E426 Standard Practice for Electromagnetic (Eddy Current) Examination of Seamless and Welded Tubular Products, Titanium, Austenitic Stainless Steel and similar alloys.
  • Familiar with SAE‑ARP4402 Eddy Current Inspection of Open Fastener Holes in Aluminum Aircraft Structure.
  • Ability to determine optimal parameters per defined techniques and system calibrations for inspection activity.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Experience with MS Office products.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and off shifts as needed to meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to lift and transport parts and/or inspection equipment within OSHA requirements.
  • Experience in both lab and field inspection environments.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired
  • Eddy Current Array Training and experience.
  • Familiar with ASTM E2884 Standard Guide for Eddy Current Testing of Electrically Conducting Materials Using Conformable Sensor Arrays.
  • Familiar with NASA PRC‑6509 Process Specification for Eddy Current Inspection.
  • Strong desire for Fluorescent Penetrant and Radiography experience and certification.
  • Ability to meet the minimum training requirements per NAS‑410 in other methods, including Ultrasonics, Radiography, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle.
  • Ability to certify in one or more of the following methods: Ultrasonics, Radiography, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Infrared, emergent methods (Terahertz and/or Laser Shearography per NAS‑410).
  • Training in Computed and/or Digital Radiography.
  • 40 hours of Radiation Safety Training.
  • Experience in the operation of NDT inspection equipment and radiation safety equipment.
  • Carded by a state or a certifying entity (such as ASNT, IRRSP) as a radiographer for X‑ray.
  • Advance Phased Array Training.
  • Knowledge of industry NDT standards.
  • Experience in a production environment, preferably in aerospace.
  • Experience with automated/robotic inspection equipment.
  • 1+ years of aerospace experience.
Background Check
  • Required for all positions: Blue's Standard Background Check.
  • Required for certain job profiles: Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if at any time the role requires one to be on a military installation.
  • Required for certain job profiles: Drivers who operate commercial motor vehicles with GVW, GVWR, or combination that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transport placardable hazardous materials by ground may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Required for certain job profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre‑employment and random drug testing and DOT physical.
