Job summary

West Star Aviation Inc. is seeking an NDT Technician to perform non-destructive testing, disassembly, cleaning, preparation, testing and post-cleaning under supervision. The role requires maintaining NAS 410 certifications and staying current through re-certification.

Commitment to FAA guidelines and safe operation of NDT equipment is essential, along with the ability to work in a fast-paced hangar environment and communicate effectively in English.

Qualifications

• NDT Level I, II or III per NAS 410 with re-certification as required.
• High school diploma or equivalent; A&P license preferred.
• Must be able to communicate in English and follow FAA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform NDT tasks including disassembly, cleaning, preparation, testing and post-cleaning.
• Maintain NAS 410 certifications and re-certify periodically to stay current.
• Repair and maintain shop facilities, equipment, and tooling.
• Operate with basic computer skills to access manuals and training data.
• Work under supervision of Team Leader and Maintenance Director.

What you can expect as an NDT Technician at West Star:

• Perform, under supervision, the required tasks associated with NDT. This will include parts disassembly, cleaning, preparation, testing and post cleaning.
• Achieve and maintain certifications of NDT level I, NDT Level 2, or level 3 per NAS 410 and West Star Aviation’s written practice. Will be required to re-certify on a periodic basis in order to maintain job status.
• Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling.
• Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases.
• Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
• Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

At least the minimum amount of experience required by NAS 410. All experience must be properly documented.

Your Education

What you’ll need to bring with you:

A High school diploma or equivalent.

Airframe and Powerplant License preferred.

A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements

• Lifts 50 lbs.
• Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
• Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.

• Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas.
• Standing for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements

• Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
• Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
• Work with others in a professional manner.

Supervision

• Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader and Director of Maintenance.
• May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in a NDT lab or hangar environment which can be subject to extreme temperature variations.
• Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
• Work around X-radiation will be required.

Equipment Used

• Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
• NDT equipment including ultraviolet lights, high amperage magnetic particle inspection machines, x-ray machines, x-ray film processor, eddy current tester, ultrasonic flaw detector and other equipment as required.
