Job summary

L3Harris is seeking a Lead, NDT Level III RT/DR/UT/PT, Quality Engineering in Canoga Park, CA. The role focuses on overseeing NDT supplier management, technique development, and audits within a defense-aerospace context.

The candidate will train L I and L II personnel, review specifications, and drive corrective actions while maintaining L III certifications. Strong communication and aerospace experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience.
• Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
• NDT LVL III RT (Radiography), DR (Digital Radiography), UT (Ultrasonic), or PT (Penetrant) certifications.
• Direct experience with testing Aerospace Metallic products.
• Level 3 ASNT Certification and/or NAS410 Level III certifications.
• Hands-on manufacturing experience and understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency with NDT inspection techniques and equipment; blueprint interpretation.
• Knowledge of NAS410, ASTM 1742, ASTM 1417, ASTM 1444, AMS-STD-2154, etc.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication; team oriented.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

We are seeking a NDT Level III RT/DR/UT/PT, Quality Engineer to join our team in Canoga Park, California.

Essential Functions:

• Review supplier-submitted NDT technique sheets for compliance to AR-Los Angeles specifications and drawing requirements. Coordinate with suppliers on the development and approval of these technique sheets. Prepare necessary reports.
• Manage site NDT supply base by monitoring suppliers to ensure flow down of AR requirements to sub-tier suppliers, audit existing NDT suppliers and assess potential new NDT suppliers for their ability to meet site requirements.
• Review process specifications, in-house technique sheets, etc. as noted above under job responsibilities.
• Provide training and testing to L I and L II.
• Develop, review and approve NDT techniques with L II personnel.
• Write, review and approve specifications pertinent to NDT.
• Support review boards for inspectability of product.
• Prepare NDT for customer and internal audits.
• Develop and Lead Corrective action reviews on audit/NCR findings.
• Maintain own L III certifications.
• Participate in the direction of the NDT department.
• Audit and surveillance of quality systems and processes.
• Position requires responding to customer needs and may include weekend work. Qualifications:

• Level 3 ASNT Certification and/ or currently active NAS410 Level III certifications
• Hands-on working experience in a manufacturing environment and a corresponding understanding of manufacturing processes is essential.
• Experience with auditing practices and Process Certification is desired.
• Proficiency with a variety of NDT inspection techniques and equipment along with a working knowledge of blueprint reading and interpretation is required.
• Knowledge of industry NDT standards (ex. NAS410, ASTM 1742, ASTM 1417, ASTM 1444, AMS-STD-2154, etc...) is required.
• Meet requirements of NAS-410.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work well in a team environment.
• Strong computer and organizational skills.
• Auditing experience/certification desired. In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in the State of California is $116,500 - $216,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
