Description

The Assistant Technician will support the Level II NDE Technician with designated NDT activities, gaining experience and knowledge in the process.

Major Responsibilities/Activities

• Assist technicians with equipment setup and teardown
• Perform routine maintenance, calibrations, and upkeep of equipment and facilities
• Help document services and prepare reports
• Follow company policies and procedures
• If performing as an Assistant Radiographer or Trainee:
• Operate radiographic equipment only under supervision
• Maintain surveillance and control of radiographic equipment during use
• Secure equipment from unauthorized removal
• Prevent unauthorized personnel from entering restricted areas
• Notify safety personnel of incidents and assist as needed
• Be capable of NRC certification as trustworthy and reliable

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record
• Ability to perform various tasks and respond to short-notice assignments, including travel
• Good communication skills with clients, supervisors, and coworkers
• Preferably able to read technical documents and specifications
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and adapt to changing schedules

Essential Physical Functions

• Work outdoors in plant/refinery environments
• Operate in noisy environments with production machinery
• Wear safety equipment as required
• Work at multiple sites and tolerate climate changes
• Frequently lift and carry up to 55 pounds
