Job summary

The Structures Company is hiring an NDI Technician in Kinston, NC. The role focuses on non-destructive inspection methods to evaluate parts and assemblies per customer requirements.

You will set up NDI equipment, interpret results, and document findings, while guiding trainees and ensuring compliance with standards. Qualifications include an associate degree, UT Level 1 and 2 certifications, NAS 410, and extensive UT experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a related discipline with 3 years of related experience.
• UT Level 1 and UT Level 2 certifications with 40 hours of formal training each.
• NAS 410 certification and 800+ UT OJT hours documented.
• Experience with UT methods: phased array, pulse-echo, shear wave, and through transmission.

Responsibilities

• Use non-destructive inspection methods to evaluate materials, components, or systems.
• Set up and standardize NDI equipment and processes for inspection.
• Interpret inspection results and determine acceptance or rejection.
• Document results and establish techniques from approved procedures.
• Conduct system performance checks and supervise trainees in NDI methods.
• Perform audit surveillance and document non-conformances.
• Interpret codes, standards, and contractual documents controlling NDT methods.

JOB TITLE: NDI Technician

PAY RATE: $58/hour

Job Type: Contract (3 months with potential for extension)

Summary:

Uses analysis techniques to evaluate the properties of materials, components, or systems without causing damage. Utilizes non-destructive inspection methods including liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, thermography, shearography, eddy current, ultrasonic, and radiography. Verifies parts and processes comply with customer engineering requirements. Sets up and standardizes NDI equipment and processes parts for inspection. Interprets and evaluates inspection results for acceptance or rejection and documents results. Establishes techniques from approved general procedures or work instructions for final approval. Conducts system performance checks in accordance with applicable process standards. Provides guidance and supervision to trainees in NDI methods. Performs audit surveillance on non-destructive inspection processes and initiates and documents non-conformances. Interprets codes, standards, and contractual documents that control NDT methods.

Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
• Associate degree in a related discipline and 3 years of related experience.
• Ultrasonic Testing Level 1 Certification and 40 hours of UT Level 1 formal training.
• Ultrasonic Testing Level 2 Certification and 40 hours of UT Level 2 formal training.
• 800+ Ultrasonic Testing OJT hours documented proof.
• NAS 410 certification.
• Experience with UT methods including phased array, pulse-echo, shear wave, and through transmission.
• Experience setting up and standardizing NDI equipment.
• Experience interpreting and evaluating inspection results for acceptance or rejection.
• Experience performing audit surveillance and documenting non-conformances.
