Job summary

Vulcan Elements is seeking an innovative R&D Materials & Process Engineer to lead end-to-end development of NdFeB magnet fabrication, from alloy melting to finishing steps.

You will bridge lab research and factory execution, establishing processing windows, driving yield improvements, and translating experiments into scalable manufacturing.

This role requires a hands-on engineer with DOE, Six Sigma, and a strong background in powder metallurgy, testing, and process optimization.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of direct experience in process engineering or industrial R&D.
• Deep practical knowledge of powder metallurgy, vacuum thermal processing, and metal powder pressing.
• Experience operating, troubleshooting, or optimizing industrial processing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design and refine core processing steps for NdFeB magnet fabrication to improve throughput and yields.
• Develop vacuum sintering profiles and thermal cycles affecting microstructure and magnetic performance.
• Plan DOE experiments to enhance magnetic performance, throughput, and cost efficiency.
• Perform root-cause failure analyses to eliminate processing defects.
• Scale up validated lab processes to pilot and full production lines.
• Collaborate with production and equipment teams to specify requirements for next-gen tooling.
