Job summary

Xcel NDT, LLC in Odessa, TX is seeking an NDT Level II Technician to perform calibrations, nondestructive testing, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations per written instructions and record results.

You will set up and calibrate equipment, interpret results to relevant codes and standards, organize test results, and supervise assistants as needed, while maintaining strict safety and quality on site. A High School Diploma or equivalent and state NDT certification are required.

Qualifications

Job Details

Job Location: Odessa - Odessa, TX 79764, The NDE Level II Technician will be performing calibrations, Nondestructive Tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and record results. Level II Technicians are qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Level II Technicians are thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the method of NDT being used and should exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of Assistants and Level I Technicians.

Level II Technicians organize and report results of NDT.

Responsibilities

• Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment.
• Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection.
• Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
• Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.
• Interpret radiographs, cathode ray tube (CRT) or digital readouts, conductivity meters and visual indicators.
• Organize and report test results.
• Perform specialized inspections.
• May instruct and supervise others.

Education and Experience

NDT Level II RT with OJT and state card. NDT Level II MT, PT, UTT Required. Technical background in NDT methods and procedures.

Demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned NDT tasks and interpret results of inspections. Knowledge of NDT equipment. High School Diploma or equivalent Requirements. Complete and pass a DISA Background check.

Complete and pass all required Drug Screens. Complete and pass site specific safety council. MUST TEST OUT IN ALL REQUIRED METHODS WITH XCEL

Work Conditions/Physical Requirements

• Move, carry and lift objects in excess of 50 pounds
• Climb and perform work from ladders, stairs and scaffolding in excess of 100 feet, continuously throughout shift
• Be able to climb ladders and platforms up to 250 feet with a harness and lanyard
• Be able to step up into vehicles or onto equipment
• Work extended hours and stand for extended periods of time
