Scot Forge invites an engineering student with a focus in NDE to join our Summer 2027 internship at the Spring Grove, IL facility. The role supports the NDE team through hands-on inspections, data collection and research work, with occasional travel to Clinton, WI and Franklin Park, IL plants.

The internship offers real-world problem solving, mentoring, and paid compensation. Ideal candidates are pursuing an undergrad engineering degree with NDE focus, have SolidWorks skills, and can read

Qualifications

• Minimum Junior year standing pursuing an undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline with a NDE focus/minor
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications
• Knowledge of reading and interpreting technical drawings or specifications
• Proficiency in SolidWorks (or other 3D modeling software)
• Demonstrated project management skills

Responsibilities

• Research to improve consistency in acoustic properties between large forgings and Ultrasonic calibration standards
• Develop and implement best practices for collaboration between Scot Forge and Robotic UT supplier
• Design and execute a comprehensive study to determine how surface finish impacts Ultrasonic testing
• Assist Level 3 NDE’s to draft and implement process controls for Immersion UT
• Research study to catalogue shear wave velocities for specialty alloys
