Job summary

XCEL NDT, LLC. in Columbia SC is seeking an NDE Assistant to support NDE Technicians with calibrations, nondestructive tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations. The role includes on-the-job and classroom training to advance toward becoming an NDE Technician.

Qualifications

Position Summary The NDE Assistant assists NDE Technicians in performing specific calibrations, nondestructive tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations. The NDE Assistant receives both on-the-job and classroom training and development to advance their career toward becoming an NDE Technician.

Responsibilities

• Set up and use nondestructive testing equipment.
• Assist NDE Technicians in the calibration of NDT equipment.
• Assist NDE Technicians in conducting tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDE methods of inspection.
• Record results of inspections.
• Assist Technicians in performing NDT procedures and other operations.
• Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management.

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine motor skills (finger dexterity), feeling, talking, hearing, visual acuity, accommodation, and color vision. Move, carry, and lift objects in excess of 50 pounds. Climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding in excess of 100 feet. Work extended hours and stand for extended periods of time. Work in indoor and outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and cold. Work in and near industrial hazards.
