Job summary

Chesterton is seeking an NC Operator I to join our on-site manufacturing team. You will operate numerical control machines (lathes, millers, EDM, etc.) to produce metal or plastic components, inspect parts for conformance, record SPC data, and support quality and production goals with a collaborative mindset.

A typical day includes machine setup, downloading programs, following process sheets, and performing quality checks.

Qualifications

• Machinist certification or 1–3 years related experience with numerical control machines.
• Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Basic understanding of Numerical Control Programs.
• Ability to read and understand machine code.

Responsibilities

• Operates Numerical Control machine tools (lathes, millers) and performs minor setup.
• Downloads part programs to machine controller.
• Performs work from process sheets, tooling lists, set-up sheets, program code and blueprints.
• Inspects work and records data for SPC; stops process if out of tolerance.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area and follows shop safety policies.
