Job summary

Sierra Club in North Carolina is seeking a Chapter Grassroots Coordinator to recruit, engage, and motivate volunteers, build grassroots power, and partner with organizations to influence policy. The role emphasizes equity, justice, and community engagement across the eastern regions of North Carolina.

You will work hybrid (Wilmington/Greenville area) with responsibilities ranging from recruiting volunteers, developing leaders, educating communities, coordinating coalitions, and planning events

Qualifications

• Campaign implementation experience in grassroots campaigns with diverse communities.
• Excellent verbal communication and public speaking in varied settings.
• Experience with constituent management tools (G-Suite, Salesforce, peer-to-peer texting).
• Ability to collect and use quantitative and qualitative data to inform organizing work.
• Experience onboarding and supporting volunteers to grow their leadership.
• Commitment to deepen understanding of systems of oppression and act inclusively.
• Must have a driver’s license, insurance, and be willing to travel up to 2 hours from Wilmington/Greenville.

Responsibilities

• Grassroots organizing across NC, building relationships and recruiting volunteers and Sierra Club members.
• Educational outreach to local communities, encouraging action and involvement with Local Groups and NC Chapter.
• Recruitment, leadership development, and support for volunteers; provide trainings and coaching.
• Coordinate with elected officials, partner organizations, and staff to expand coalitions and coalitional spaces.
• Plan and execute local, state, and national events and mobilization activities, particularly in eastern NC.
• Build and participate in teams to sustain base-building and promote campaign priorities.
